Dawgs win National Championship

We kicked off 2022 in National Championship town! The energy in Athens was felt throughout the rest of the year, along with our Atlanta Braves World Series win from 2021!

Wake-n-Bake Off

February brought back one of our favorite annual events after having it cancelled the year before due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Wake-n-Bake Off! Local restaurants competed to see who could make the best recipe featuring Terrapin’s Wake-n-Bake Imperial Oatmeal Coffee Stout.

Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day

In March, female and/or non-binary employees brewed “Have You Hurd?” our 2022 Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day beer! This SMaSHIPA (single-malt and single-hop) was named after Jess Hurd, Terrapin’s first female brewer who also helped brew this beer on International Women’s Day!

20th Anniversary

April was a big month for Terrapin as we celebrated our 20^th Anniversary! We cheers-ed to 20 years with re-releases of classic Terrapin beers like Rye Pale Ale and 90 Shelling, the release of our 20^thAnniversary beer Old Snapper, an all-company celebration, and ended it with abang at our 20^th Anniversary Celebration!

New MTSU Scholarship Recipient Announced

In May we announced our second Brewing Change Scholarship Recipient, Emily Beavers, a rising junior at Middle Tennessee State University.The scholarship is dedicated to helping minority populations in the brewing industry get opportunities through financial funding and internships. The first scholarship recipient, Calvin Hood, joined the Terrapin team this summer for his internship!

Athens Pride Parade

In June, Terrapin Beer Co. had the honor of participating in Athens Pride & Queer Collectives first ever Pride Parade in Downtown Athens. It was amazing to see such an amazing turnout from the Athens community celebrating that fact that love is love.❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

July

Athens Taproom Backyard Get a Makeover

July brought the renovation of Terrapin’s Athens Brewery and Taproom’s backyard. With the help of our friends at Royal Landscapes, we were able to make a space that is not only beautiful, but also sustainable. The backyard was built with all Georgia-sourced materials and native plants!

Ale Sharpton Collab Brew & ATL BrewFest

In August, our Atlanta Brewery and Taproom team collaborated with Ale Sharpton to brew Got Something to Saison, a peach Saison brewed for ATL Brewfest sponsored by Terrapin! Proceeds from the festival went toward the Brewing Change Education Scholarship!

Athens PrideFest

Terrapin hosted Athens Pride and Queer Collective’s Athens Pridefest in September! Athens came together to celebrate love and the LGBTQ+ community at this event promoting inclusivity & acceptance.

October

Two Nights of Concerts at Terrapin!

October brought two nights of concerts to Terrapin,with Moon Taxi & Pigeons Playing Ping Pong playing on October 6^thand Gov’t Mule with very special guest Mike Campbell & the Dirty Knobs playing on October 7^th. We had a blast with two back-to-back nights filled with music, beer, and good times!

Rye Pale Ale Brewed

Spike headed down to the Atlanta Brewery & Taproom in November to brew Rye Pale Ale, Terrapin’s first award winning beer and an essential part of building Terrapin into the brewery it is today. Rye Pale Ale will now be available year-round on draft at both our Atlanta and Athens Taprooms!

Looking forward to 2023

As we closed our 2022, the Terrapin team is eagerly looking forward to 2023 and the opportunities of next year. Expect a big year as Terrapin is finally legal with our 21^st Birthday!
